Bhagat Singh, Shivaram Rajguru and Sukhdev Thapar were hung on March 23, 1931. Three young revolutionary voices against the colonial oppression were stubbed by the British government; however their ideas remained untouched and even to this day they guide the youth of this country. Remembering the sacrifice of these three young voices against oppression, the on going farmers movement observed the martyrdom day at Delhi borders today. Youth across the country organised several events to remember their icons.
The real revolutionary forces are in villages and factories, that is, peasants and labourers. But our bourgeoisie leaders will never organise them. Once these sleeping lions have awakened, they will go far beyond the goals set by the bourgeoisie leaders… There is no doubt that initially we will have to raise the economic demands of these classes but in the end they have to be motivated to take control of political power.
Producers and workers are the most important section of society, but the exploiting class loots their hard-earned income and also keeps them bereft of basic rights. Farmers, who grow food for everyone, die of hunger along with their families, weavers who weave cloth for the world do not have enough to clothe their children, carpenters, blacksmiths and masons who built grand palaces are forced to live in slums themselves. The bourgeoisie and other exploiters leech on them to make for themselves a life of luxury and comfort.
Soil from historical places like Sunam, Khatkar Kalan, Sri Anandpur Sahib, Shri Fatehgarh Sahib, Sarabha, Jallianwala Bagh, Hussainiwala and Sri Chamkaur Sahib associated with the martyrs, were brought to Singhu and Tikri borders. Women leaders from Haryana said that the dreams that Shaheed Bhagat Singh had dreamt of remain unfulfilled. Another speaker reminded that Bhagat Singh had warned us that the country would not get freedom only by the British leaving the country; that this country would be truly independent only when the exploitation of farmers and labourers ends. They also presented Bhagat Singh’s views on the international conspiracy of exploitation of farmers and labourers.
