Bhupinder Mann recuses himself from SC-appointed panel on farm laws

Bhupinder Singh Mann Ex MP and National President of BKU and Chairman of All India Kisan Coordination Committee has recused himself from the 4 member committee constituted by Supreme Court.

MP Bhupinder Singh Maan was one of the four members in the Supreme Court-appointed panel of farm laws.

Bhupinder Singh Mann says he is opting out ‘in view of prevailing sentiments & apprehension amongst farmers’ and he cant compromise the interests of farmers’.

In a tweet, Man has thanked the supreme court for nominating him in the committee. He further explains that he does not want to compromise the interests of Punjab and farmers of the country. The press statement said that he will stand with the farmers and Punjab.

The SC had set up an expert committee to investigate farmers’ concerns about the contentious farm laws on 12th january.

The panel members have been given the task of attempting to find an amicable solution between the Central government and farmers who have been protesting since the end of November.

The members of the select committee are Jitender Singh Maan, President BKU; Dr. Pramod Kumar Joshi, International policy head; agricultural economist Ashok Gulati and Anil Ghanwat from Shetkari Sangathan. All these members have already in different capacities supported the farm laws.
