Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) meeting on Wednesday (February 10, 2021) decided to Observe Feb 14, the day of Pulwama martyrs as a day of sacrifices. SKM statement released on Wednesday noted, “The entire country shall observe it by holding candle marches and torchlight processions during evening hours. Other programs also can be held. Its main slogan should be “The country Salute martyred jawans and martyred farmers”. At all Morchas the farmers who have worked in the army can be specially honoured.”

SKM’s statement also stated that all toll plazas in Rajasthan will be made toll-free by farmers from 12 Feb. On 16th February, while remembering the revered farmer leader Sir Chhotu Ram, farmers from all over the country will express their solidarity. And on February 18th, between 12.00 and 4.00 p.m., Rail Roko protests will be organized all over the country.

The statement noted that India’s opposition parties have maintained consistent pressure on the ruling party on the issue of farmers’ protest, both in Parliament and in the respective state assemblies. In Lok Sabha, the opposition said that the government wants to shun its arrogance and should speak to farmers.

Iqbal Singh, a suspect in the Delhi Red-Fort incident on 26 January, was arrested last night by a special cell in Hoshiarpur, Punjab. Probe underway.

Yesterday in Saharanpur in Western UP, a ‘Kisan Panchayat’ was held. Congress chief Priyanka Gandhi joined the Kisan Panchayat as well. She also said that ‘Congress will scrap the three farm laws if voted to power’. Meanwhile, not only in Parliament but also in their respective state, many politicians have come to open support of the Farmers’ Movement including Maharashtra Deputy CM Ajit Pawar, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi, National Conference Member Farooq Abdullah.

In order to protect freedom of speech and expression, Twitter has stated that it has not blocked accounts and haven’t yet taken action on news media outlets, journalists, activists, and politicians, as directed by the Government of India. The reaction comes in the wake of Twitter’s continuing battle with the government over the banning of several accounts supported farmers’ protest.

Congress MLA Indira Meena yesterday arrived at the Rajasthan Assembly on a tractor to show support for farmers.

The SKM statement noted the inconsistency in the government statement in Rajyasabha. The government said,  “National Investigation Agency (NIA) had not summoned farmers involved in the ongoing protests against the newly enacted three agricultural laws” This contradicts the more than 40 appeals issued to farmers’ union leaders in January.

In support of Kisan Andolan & Nodeep Kaur, Famous Punjabi Singer Rupinder Handa returns her award to the Haryana Government at Kurukshetra Mahapanchayat on 9 Feb.

Saints came to support Kisan Andolan at the Gazipur border. Havans took place in presence of representatives of various religions on 8th Feb 2020.
