Judge Dharmendar Rana of Patiala House Court Complex passed the verdict and granted bail to twenty-one years old climate activist Disha Ravi today. The hearing of the bail application was reserved on February 20, 2021. The young activist was arrested by the Delhi Police from her Bangalore residence on February 13, 2021 in the night. According to the live law report she was granted bail on two sureties of rupees one lakh each.

The activist has been picked up from her home in Soladevanahalli, North Bengaluru in relation to the ‘Greta Thunberg “Toolkit” Conspiracy Case’. The Delhi police had accused Disha of contributing written material for the toolkit. The Delhi Police, and many BJP Leaders and Ministries allege that the toolkit shared and later deleted by Greta Thunberg shows “an international conspiracy to defame India, and wage economic, social, cultural and regional war against India.” Greta Thunberg had later shared a new toolkit and had said that the previous one was outdated.

The court during the three hours long hearing reportedly asked the Delhi Police to explain the link between the ‘tool kit’ and the violence on January 26, 2021 at the Red Fort in Delhi. Livelaw.in reported that the prosecution submitted that the ‘toolkit’, which came to public domain after it was shared by international climate activist Greta Thunberg on Twitter, was created by Disha Ravi in association with organizations having Khalistani leanings. It was alleged that Ravi had attended Zoom meetings with members of “Poetic Justice Foundation”, an organization alleged to have Khalistani links. Additional Solicitor General SV Raju, who appeared for the Delhi police, alleged that the ‘toolkit’ was part of an international conspiracy to malign India by using the garb of farmers protests, and that the same was linked to the violence which took place in the national capital on the Republic Day during the tractor parade by protesting farmers.

The ASG also submitted that there was a need to confront Disha with the co-accused Advocate Nikita Jacob and activist Shantanu Muluk. Nikita Jacob, a lawyer at Bombay High Court and an activist from Mumbai was issued a non-bailable arrest warrant by the Delhi Police. Shantanu had also been issued an arrest warrant against him. However both of them got a transit bail and now are summoned for investigation in the same ‘tool kit’ case as Disha Ravi.

According to the livelaw.in report, refuting the police allegations, Advocate Siddharth Agarwal, appearing for Ravi, submitted that the ‘toolkit’ was merely a document for organizing peaceful protests and mobilizing a social media campaign against the farmers’ laws. He submitted that there was no evidence to link the ‘toolkit’ to the January 26 violence.
