Protest in Begusarai (Bihar) against Haryana Government's brutal police action in Karnal.

In Haryana, in a predictable turn of events, it is now Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala who is reported to be defending the brutal police action in Karnal on August 28th 2021, whereafter one of the protesting farmers Sushil Kajal succumbed to his injuries and died. This is utterly shameful and Samyukt Kisan Morcha condemns this.

SKM demands that there should be a case registered immediately under IPC section 302 against SDM Ayush Sinha, cases filed and proceeded against all culprit officials who were involved in the murderous assault on protesting farmers and their immediate dismissal, in addition to payment of 25 lakh rupees compensation to the family of martyred farmer Sushil Kajal, and two lakh rupees each to the farmers injured in the incident. The Haryana Police also needs to withdraw all false cases filed against farmers. This was decided in a large gathering of farmers in Gharonda in Karnal yesterday. A deadline of September 6th 2021 has been given to the administration to meet the above demands, failing which farmer unions have warned that they will lay an indefinite siege to the Mini Secretariat in Karnal.

Samyukt Kisan Morcha condemns the case filed in Shahzadpur Police Station in Ambala against Gurnam Singh Charuni and other farmers on Saturday, after they blocked highways in protest against the Karnal police brutality. SKM demands the immediate withdrawal of the case under the National Highway Act and IPC 109, 265 and 283 by the Haryana police.

After Haryana, Uttar Pradesh BJP leaders continue to face protests

In Uttar Pradesh, BJP MLA Vikram Singh Saini of Khatauli constituency was confronted with a black flag protest when he reached Meerapur Dalpat yesterday. In Fazilka, Punjab, BJP’s Surjit Kumar Jyani had to face a black flag protest from farmers today.

Meanwhile, nervous BJP-RSS goons have started their intimidation and harassment of farmer leaders in the state, ahead of the September 5th Muzaffarnagar Mahapanchayat

The police brutality of the BJP-JJP government in Haryana is being resisted and condemned by spontaneous farmers protests not just in Haryana, Punjab and Uttarakhand but in various other states too. In these states, highways were jammed by protesting farmers in various locations.

This anger resonated in distant states too like Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha and Madhya Pradesh. Several state Chief Ministers have also reacted strongly against the Haryana government’s brutal anti-farmer repression.

Haryana Chief Minister Manoharlal Khattar’s statement, along with those of other Haryana state government ministers, that it is the Punjab government which is behind the farmers’ protests is one more insult to the farmers. The state government Ministers are also accusing Punjab and UP farmer leaders of instigating Haryana farmers. The CM and his Ministers are choosing to ignore the anger and resolve of Haryana farmers at their own peril, said SKM. SKM also warned these political leaders of trying to divide the farmers across state, and said that farmers are united and will not succumb to such tactics.

Preparatory meetings and mobilisations in UP for Sept. 5 Mahapanchayat

There are numerous meetings happening in various districts of Uttar Pradesh, where villagers are enthusiastically planning their participation in the Muzaffarnagar Kisan Mahapanchayat on September 5th. This is being undertaken by Samyukt Kisan Morcha as part of Mission UP and Uttarakhand. A massive turnout of thousands of farmers in Sadabad in Hathras district today is an indication of the same, apart from the turnout even in village level meetings.

Meanwhile, nervous BJP goons started started their intimidation and harassment of farmer leaders in the state, ahead of September 5th. This morning, a group of such BJP goons sought to attack a farmer leader in Aligarh. SKM warns BJP-RSS workers to give up their intimidation tactics.
