Twitterati had a field day today at the expense of Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s latest blooper in the Parliament.
Today during the debate in Lok Sabha government on the steep price rise of onions, Nirmala Sitharaman said that she doesn’t eat much onions.
Sitharaman was talking about the government measures to tackle the price rise of onions. NCP MP Supriya Sule questioned Sitharaman, “Why has the production of onion gone down? We export rice and milk and so many other products. Onion grower is a small farmer and he really needs to be protected.”
In her response, she gave a bizarre answer adding “I don’t eat much onion and garlic. So dont worry. I come from such a family which doesn’t have much to do with onion.” here is the clip of her statement-

Many also pointed out her response was arrogant and casteist as most of India does eat onion and garlic unlike that minority Tamil Brahmin community that she belongs to.
This bizarre statement from Nirmala Sitharaman shows us the reality of Modi govt

The hilarity doesn’t stop there, because BJP minister are known to make bizzare statements all the time. One can only question their intellect and ability to run their ministries when they make ridiculous statements like these.
Another BJP leader Ashwini Choubey says ” Onion causes cancer and he has never eaten onion in his life”
Next he will say, I have never ate food in my life. How will I know about food inflation ?#SayItLikeNirmalaTai https://t.co/L5bTRjlJNe

This is no the first time that Nirmala Sitharaman has put her foot in her mouth. Two months ago, She had blamed Millenials taking ola and uber over buying a car for the automobile industry slowdown.
After Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s blamed the millennials as the reason behind the crisis in the auto sector, today, Union commerce minister Piyush Goyal made another embarrassing faux pas. In a board of Trade meetings, he apparently credited Einstein for discovering Gravity!!
