In response to Samyukt Kisan Morcha’s call on the day of “Sampoorna Kranti”, there were protests organised all over the country in hundreds of places today.

It was on this day in 1974 that a historical mass movement against fascist, authoritarian and exploitative government of that time was launched by Lok Nayak Jayaprakash Narayan.

It was on June 5th 2020, exactly an year ago that the Modi Government brought in 3 anti-farmer agricultural laws as Ordinances, under the cover of Covid. These were laws that were never demanded by farmers, but these were brought in undemocratically in the name of farmers. Since then, there have been massive protests across the country, and from November 2020, the agitation has been led by Samyukt Kisan Morcha.

Farmers express their anger in front of offices/houses of BJP leaders and government offices, all over India

In resistance gatherings all over the country, reports of which are still coming in, farmers and their supporters burnt copies of the 3 black acts outside the houses/offices of BJP leaders, leaders of other NDA allies and government offices. These protests were a warning to the Centre that there will only be an intensification of resistance in the coming days.

Reports have come in from various states like Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Odisha, Chattisgarh, Bihar, Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh that protests took place. Reports came in of such protests being organised in far-off places in Tripura too.

In Hisar, at the residence of Deputy CM of Haryana Dushyant Choutala, braving the deployment of hundreds of police personnel, thousands of farmers assembled and burnt copies of the Acts.

Tense situation continues at Tohana of Haryana where thousands of protesting farmers have gathered to court arrest, upon the call of SKM – Protests against state government’s authoritarian action of arresting and jailing farmers and their leaders

Thousands of farmers reached Tohana in Haryana today to court arrest, and protest against the Haryana government filing cases and arresting farmers for their protest against MLA Devendra Babli. The Chief Minister ML Khattar, fearing the resistance from farmers, preponed his visit to Karnal on the occasion of World Environment Day by a full one and a half hours, to avoid the protestors.

The SKM has given call to organise mass demonstrations and Sit-in struggle (Dharna) in front of all the police stations from 12pm to 4 pm on 7th June 2021, if the BJP-JJP led Manoharlal Khattar Government is not ready to withdraw the false cases against the farmers who are protesting for their genuine demands.

Mahila Samitis formed at all borders

As per the decision of the SKM Mahila Samities were formed in all the borders. The names of the members are circulated among the farmers. These committees will actively facilitate all arrangements and care for women farmers who are participating in the struggle.

Police lathi-charge on peaceful protestors in Panchkula condemned

In Panchkula today, as farmers started their prior-announced gherao program, police used lathi-charge against them at Majri Chowk. It is reported that several farmers were injured in this incident. SKM condemns the continued brutalities of Haryana government on peacefully-protesting farmers.

In Punjab, when hundreds farmers protested the visit of Vijay Sampla, a BJP leader who is the Chairperson of National Commission for Scheduled Castes, to village Phapre Bhaike in Mansa district of Punjab, cases were filed against the protestors under the SC/STs (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. SKM condemned the effort to create a divide between dalits and others in this instance, and said that the protesting farmers were not against the deceased dalit youth or his family but against the BJP leader. Farmer unions have already announced months ago their plans to implement social boycott of BJP leaders. SKM demands that all the unfair cases foisted on more than 200 protestors be dropped immediately.

Tomorrow, on June 6th, Samyukt Kisan Morcha will hold events all over the country for the remembrance of 6 farmers of Mandsaur being brutally killed by Madhya Pradesh police in 2017 when they were struggling for remunerative prices for their produce.
