Protesting farmers have decided not to march till the parliament on February 30, 2021, and instead will be fasting marking Gandhi’s martyrdom day. Samyukta Kisan Morcha has said that Kisan Parliament Chalo march will not take place on the day of the budget presentation on the first of February. They have also given a call for marches across the country.
Baal Veer S Rajewala, the union leader of Bharath Kisan Union, spoke in a press conference at Singhu border and said, “the government is responsible for the violence on the Republic Day. We would continue our peaceful struggle. We are postponing our Parliament Chalo.” Ashish Mittal noted that these attacks by the government will not deter our movement. We would not leave from here till all the three laws are rolled back. This protest will go on.
Yogendra Yadav explained, “The rally was called off as soon as the incident at the Red Fort came to light. We are being slandered for the doings of the Punjab Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Samiti and Deep Sidhu. People of this country are now well informed about Deep Sidhu. We all know who he has his pictures clicked with. Even though Samyukta Kisan Morcha is not responsible for what happened on Republic Day, we would take up the moral responsibility of what happened. Thus, we have postponed our Parliament Chalo. However, this protest will continue undeterred.” He also said people from across the country will continue to join the protest.
Rakesh Tikait said, “the government has done this to malign the image of Punjab and it is an attempt to alienate Punjab from the Country.”
