The much anticipated and disastrous Cyclone Nivar wreaked havoc in Tamil Nadu at nighttime from November 25th to 26th. It made landfall in Puducherry at 11:30 pm on Wednesday night and lasted till 2:30 am on Thursday. The affect of it was felt across the country, especially in coastal regions, with heavy rainfalls. It had led to great damage in Tamil Nadu, especially Chennai; over 1,000 trees were uprooted and in agriculture and other sectors CM Narayanasamy announced a tentative Rs 400 crore loss and that they will seek Rs 50 crore as interim relief. Three persons have been reported dead.
