Lawyer and Activist Nikita Jacob who has received a non-bailable arrest warrant against her regarding the “Toolkit” Conspiracy has now moved to Bombay High Court seeking a transit anticipatory bail.
Jacob has submitted that under the guise of investigation she might be arrested in a false and frivolous case even though she has not committed any crime, Bar and Bench has reported.
Jacob has stated that she has no political, religious, or financial motive for researching, editing the toolkit or raising awareness, or inciting violence.
Regrading trolls on social media and people accusing her of being associated with Aam Aadmi Party, her plea stated, “The said accounts have been circulating the same anonymously and has been picked by fact less/ untrustworthy and unethical news channels who have been violating the applicant’s (Jacob) privacy and dissecting her personal information whilst also alleging absolute lies to incite hate and violence against the applicant by claiming that the Applicant has ties with political parties like AAP“.
On February 11, 2021, the Cyber Cell Unit of Delhi accompanied by the Mumbai Police had come to her house with a search warrant and seized personal documents and electronic gadgets from her house which had confidential information protected by the attorney-client privilege. She has said that she may be arrested because of political vendetta and media trial.
