Nikita Jacob, a lawyer at Bombay High Court and an activist from Mumbai has had a non-bailable arrest warrant issued against her by the Delhi Police, and has been accused of absconding. Along with Nikita, Shantanu has also had an arrest warrant against him.

The Delhi Police has accused the two, along with Disha Ravi, of being associated and writing the “Toolkit” that was shared by Greta Thunberg. The Toolkit has been seen by many BJP leaders and even ministries as proof of an “international conspiracy” against India.

The police accuses that the Toolkit and the “international conspiracy” has Poetic Justice Foundation behind it, which allegedly is a Khalistani organisation. The police claim according to their investigations that the Foundation had contacted Nikita Jacob to organize a “tweet storm” ahead of the Republic Day protest by farmers.

Disha Ravi was seen crying yesterday while being taken to court, and has reportedly had to argue her own case in court. Regarding this, Rebecca John has alleged “shocking abdication of judicial duties”. According to her, the magistrate at Delhi’s Patiala House court failed to ensure that Disha Ravi had legal representation in court.

She had written, “Deeply disappointed by the conduct of the duty magistrate…who remanded a young woman to five days in police custody, without first ensuring that she was being represented by counsel.”

“If the accused was not being represented by counsel at the time of the hearing, the magistrate should have waited till her counsel arrived or, in the alternate, provided her with legal aid,” Ms John wrote.
