Hyderabad Central University Students Organise Hunger Strike Against Contentious Farm Laws

The struggle of farmers is not just limited to farmers but of the entire country, and as students, we stand in solidarity with them till the Anti-Farm Bills are repealed.

Students Federation Of India in Hyderabad Central university organised a day-long hunger strike under the call given by SFI Telangana in solidarity with the Ongoing Nation-wide Farmers Protest. Slogans against the three contentious farm laws were also raised in the protest by the students and they demanded the release of all the farmers and protesters detained.

“The Anti-Farm Bills passed by the BJP-led NDA government not only paves way for the corporatization of farming but also bring the practice of contract farming,” they told in a statement.

Ayushya Singh, Secretary of SFI-HCU told Gauri Lankesh News, ” we condemn the way in which the farmer’s protest has been continuously maligned and has been violently handled by the police, and lumpen elements of this government. We extend our solidarity with the Ongoing Farmers Protest until all these anti-farm bills are repealed.”

“We are sitting here on a day-long hunger strike in solidarity with the protesting farmers. In the guise of farm reform, the BJP government is planning to autocratically implement anti farm laws. We demand legislation of MSP and implementation of Swaminathan Commission Report,” HCU Students’ Union President, Abhishek Nandan told.

Nandan also said that the struggle of farmers is not just limited to farmers but of the entire country, and as students, we stand in solidarity with them till the Anti-Farm Bills are repealed.
