Ahead of floor test tomorrow, Devendra Fadnavis resigns as Maharashtra CM. Fadnavis stated in a press conference that he is going to submit his resignation before the governor.

In the press conference, Fadnavis accepted that they dont have the majority and BJP dont believe in poaching MLAs. He further added that BJP will work as an effective opposition.

Ahead of Devendra Fadnavis press conference, NCP leader Ajit Pawar resigned as the Maharashtra deputy chief minister in the Devendra Fadnavis government. Fadnavis is addressing the press conference from 3.30 pm.

Fadnavis blamed Shiv Sena for delaying the process of government formation.

BJP waited for Shiv Sena but they never spoke to us. We had never promised Shiv Sena rotational CM”, says Fadnavis.

“BJP got the people’s mandate. If we had fought separately, we would have won a better mandate,” Fadnavis says.

The Supreme Court on Tuesday ordered the floor test for Maharashtra Assembly to be held on November 27 after hearing a joint plea by the Shiv Sena, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and Congress.

The three parties’ MLAs on Monday pledged allegiance to the three-party coalition at Mumbai’s Grand Hyatt.  The coalition is claiming the Devendra Fadnavis-led government does not have the numbers while the Sena-NCP-Congress alliance has 162 MLAs and they can prove majority in the House if the floor test is taken.

Earlier during the day, the Supreme Court ordered the Fadnavis government to prove its majority in a floor test in the Assembly on Wednesday.

After a meeting of the leaders of the Shiv Sena-NCP-Congress combine, Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut said Uddhav Thackeray will be the chief minister of Maharashtra for five years.
