Balesar: 2 Dalit Men Assaulted for Entering Temple, and Entering Village


Rajasthan: A Dalit youth who went to a temple to get anointed was beaten up in Belwa Khatriya village in Balesar, Rajasthan. Ganesharam Gurda went to the Binja Baba temple on August 3 to get anointed. The priest of the temple, Nemichand, refused to do the anointment and started assaulting him, using caste-based slurs to insult him. 

Also in Balesar, Ghevra Ram, a Dalit man was going to the Judiya village, when Achaldan, a member of a dominant case blocked the road, beating him up, and using caste-based slurs against him. 

The Balesar police filed both cases under the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989, and investigations are ongoing.
