Karnataka Farmers Stopped By The Police Continue to March

Farmers arriving in tractors and their vehicles were to congregate in four corners of the city at 9 am today and start marching into the city.

Farmers arriving in tractors and their vehicles were to congregate in four corners of the city at 9 am today and start marching into the city to join farmers and various unions in Bangalore at the city railway station. This massive protest is being organised under the banner of Sanyukta Horata, in solidarity with the farmers protesting against the three anti-farmer reforms brought in by the Narendra Modi led central government. Karnataka police seems to be determined to disrupt the peaceful parade of farmers that is scheduled to take place in Bangalore today.

Farmers assembled at Nandi cross have started protesting against the police there. The police here are reportedly not allowing farmers to march. The enraged farmers are questioning the move of the police to not let even the farmers go ahead with the march. This suppressing act by the police has been seen as an effort by the government to silence the farmers. The protesting farmers have yet again said that, no effort by the government to stop them is going to deter their spirits.

Police at the Hoskote toll junction are not letting any tractors passby. They have even locked the tractors that have nothing to do with the farmers’ march. A farmer who was transporting hundred bags of potatoes in his tractor to sell in the market for example was sent back.
