SKM opposes govt attempts to force Electricity amendment Bill 2021
Samyukt Kisan Morcha opposed any move by the Government of India to introduce the Electricity Amendments Bill 2021 and demanded that the Government make public the draft of the Bill that is listed for tabling in the ongoing Parliament session. Any amendments to the Electricity Act will clearly violate the commitment made by the central government to the farmer unions to withdraw its Draft Bill.
The undemocratic, high-handed repressive attitude of Tamil Nadu Police was witnessed once again when it stopped a Cycle Rally in support of the farmers’ protests that started in Kanyakumari. SKM condemns this.
The government, instead of accepting the demands of the farmers, is constantly harassing people who are supporting the farmers’ agitation. Sukhpal Singh Khaira of Punjab Ekta Party is being harassed through an unconstitutional ED raid and SKM strongly condemns the same. Sukhpal Khaira, who has been continuously demanding an inquiry into the death of Navrit Singh, who was killed by a police bullet on January 26, is now being targeted by the government for his active role in the farmer’s movement.
