Podcast on the Migrant Workers Report during the Lockdown

With the helpline, we got a glimpse of the life of migrants in an alien place made more hostile by the pandemic. We also got to see the absolute government apathy and inefficiency.

In this episode of our Gauri Lankesh News Podcast, we talk to people who have been working in providing relief, help with travel and counseling to migrant workers stuck in the cities during the COVID19 induced lockdown.

We are joined by Mallige, Kishor, Bharath, and Rosey. They together started a migrant worker helpline where they received calls from all over Karnataka, even the remote corners of the state.

Many of the migrants had no rations and had no help with the Seva Sindhu app that was formed by Karnataka government for migrant workers to register themselves if they want to leave the state.
