Karnataka Elections 2023: Congress Announces Second List Of 42 Candidates

The Congress has named 42 candidates in its second list for Karnataka Assembly elections scheduled on May 10.

The Congress has named 42 candidates in its second list for Karnataka Assembly elections scheduled on May 10. Out of the 42 seats, the party has marked Melukote constituency for Sarvodaya Karnataka Party. The party had announced 124 names in its first candidate list that it released last month.

In the first list, Congress announced that state party president DK Shivakumar will be contesting from the Kanakapura constituency. Priyank Kharge will be contesting from Chitapur (SC) constituency.

Amid expectations that former chief minister and leader of the oppositionSiddaramaiah will contest from Varuna, the leader was allotted the same constituency by the Congress’s high command.

Amid speculations of joining BJP ahead of the state assembly elections scheduled on May 10, Kannada actor Kichcha Sudeep confirmed that he will not contest elections, but will support BJP leader and Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai. Sharing a stage with CM Bommai, he said, “He (Bommai) is like a father figure. If he requires my help, I will help him. I am here to support my uncle.” Meanwhile, expelled JD(S) leader and former Mandya MP LR Shivarame Gowda joined the BJP in presence of party’s state chief Nalinkumar Kateel in Bengaluru on Wednesday.
