Former Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition in Assembly, Siddaramaiah has asserted that if the Congress government comes to power in 2023, it will abolish the Anti-conversion Act if the ruling BJP government formulates the law.
In a tweet, he said that the Congress will remove the Act either in the first assembly session or in the first week of coming to power.
He said that the BJP government is trying to bring the law even by going against the public anger.
“ There should not be any doubt on this matter that the Congress government, if comes to power, will certainly abolish the Law”, he said.
He said that Minister, K. S. Eshwarappa has admitted in the assembly that it was the BJP government which formulated the draft of the anti-conversion. The government did it as per the wish of the RSS.
“ Which clearly means that the proposed law is the brainchild of the RSS. No more evidence is needed to confirm it”, he questioned.
Siddaramaiah has claimed that in 2015 itself he had directed the then Social Welfare Minister, H. Anjaneya not to bring the file of the Bill to the Cabinet.
“ We did not have any interest in such anti-human laws and we still have no interest in such laws”, he declared.
It may be noted that since the BJP government failed to pass the bill in Vidhan Parishad owing to lack of majority, Social Welfare Minister, Kota Srinivas Pujari has already hinted that the government may look for Ordinance route to pass the bill.
