Bengaluru: As many as 30 Congress leaders and workers, including Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee President DK Shivakumar have been booked for taking out a rally from Mekedatu, violating the weekend curfew on Sunday.

Ramnagara SP Girish said that the complaint by the tehsildar alleged that they had flouted Covid 19 protocols.
Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said: “Action would be taken against anyone who violates Covid rules. There would be no differentiation in dealing with them.”

“We are worried about their health. Not only DK but others should get their health tested. It’s the duty of the health department. DK doesn’t understand this. It shows how irresponsible he is,” CM Bommai said.
The Karnataka government has also decided to press charges against DK Shivakumar and Leader of Opposition Siddharamaiah for violating Covid protocols and conducting march.
“We will file a case against padayatra. Not just them anyone who violates the law, case will be filed. Law will take its course after the case is registered. No matter who it is and how big the leader is,” Bommai said.
