Bokaro: Labourer Found Dead in The Pond of a Closed Mine

Tulsi Yadav, the head of the Dam Panchayat, who reached the spot, said that the police should solve the murder case fast. Otherwise, the villagers will agitate.

On the morning of Friday, Bokaro Thermal Police recovered the body of a 42-year-old labourer, a resident of Kathara Mohali dam from the frozen water pond in the closed mine located at Govindpur project of CCL. Both the hands of the deceased labourer were tied and there were marks of wounds on the face.

Earlier that week on Monday, the deceased labourer had come to work at Mathura Sharma’s residence in Madina Masjid, Janta Nagar, Bokaro Thermal. At around 8 pm after the completion of the work, the deceased laborer left for home. However, he did not reach home that night.

Later on, the relatives submitted a complaint application related to his disappearance to the police of Bokaro Thermal Police Station on Wednesday and demanded action.

In this regard, Bokaro Thermal Police Station in-charge, and Inspector Ravindra Kumar Singh, who reached the spot, said that the search for the missing laborer was being done on the basis of his mobile location.

Meanwhile, on Friday morning, there was information about an identified dead body in the pond of Govindpur CCL mine. During the investigation, the body was identified to be of Subhash Gop, a resident of Kathara Mohali dam.

Kumar said that in the initial investigation it appears to be a case of murder and added that more can be said only after the arrival of the post-mortem report.

A woman worker was also working with the deceased labourer and both had left Mathura Sharma’s house together on Monday night after the completion of work, the officer further added and informed that the call record of the mobile of the deceased labourer will be extracted to connect the dots.

The wife of the deceased laborer, Geeta Devi told that she has two daughters apart from a 15-year-old son. Her husband was the sole earner here in the house.

The police have taken possession of the body and sent it to the sub-divisional hospital Chas for post-mortem.
