Bangalore City Transport Corporation (BMTC) employees are on a complete strike today after many of BMTC employees were arrested yesterday for staging a protest for demanding to be made government employees.
Thousands of workers working under various corporations, including the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) and Bangalore City Transport Corporation (BMTC), staged a massive protest yesterday demanding that the transport workers be made government employees.
One of the main demands is that transport employees should be declared as government employees and all the facilities available to government employees should be given to them as well.
The transport workers started a “Vidhan Sabha Chalo” demanding corona warriors policy for the families of the employees who died during corona times.
At present we are neither government employees nor private employees. In the BMTC, if the corporation we dont get much facilities. If the corporation goes into loss then we dont get our salary also. That is why we want to be treated as governemnt employees. In different states transport workers are treated as government employees. Recently Andhra Pradesh government also took this decision. In Karnataka also similar decision should be implemented.
Thousands of Transport Employees Struggling to Become Government Employees under one banner. We are not demanding that our family members become government employees, but this is our right.
Transportation employees also worked in the Corona pandemic. Around 50 people have died of the infection. Today, many people are becoming government employees. But we are not government employees even though we work hard.
