The workers at Hero MotoCorp’s vendor company Satyam Auto, illegally fired for four years, have been continuously staging protests. Protestors include workers, women, and children, demanding restoration of work.
To suppress the ongoing struggle, a heavy police force was employed by the Haridwar authorities who went on to forcefully pick up the protesting labouers, women, and children.
On July 22, at 5 am, the labourers protesting at Satyam Auto Component Haridwar were brutally picked up by the police in the presence of the district administration and taken to the police line. The police allegedly beat up women and children and forcibly put them in buses. The protesting labourers along with women and children were reportedly assaulted and intimidated by the police and later on, they were forcefully made to fill bonds.
The United Struggle Trade Union Front has strongly condemned the punitive action by the Haridwar administration against the labourers protesting for their rights and burnt an effigy in protest.
Earlier in April, talks were held in the mediation of DM Haridwar, and an oral agreement was reached that the workers would leave the company gate, and within 2 days all the workers would be restored. Trusting the words of DM and ALC, the protesting labourers left the company gate after the talk.
But later the company manager refused to follow the oral agreement and the workers were not reinstated. The DM and ALC also reneged on their words and assurances.
These labourers of Hero’s vendor Satyam Auto were illegally expelled from the company. 300 workers have been fighting for their return to work for four consecutive years.
