Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh and Queen Elizabeth’s Husband, Has Died at 99

Queen Elizabeth II’s 99-year-old husband Prince Philip, who was recently hospitalised and underwent a successful heart procedure, died on Friday, Buckingham Palace announced.

“It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen announces the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness Philip, Duke of Edinburgh,” it said in a statement.

Philip’s health had been slowly deteriorating for some time. He announced he was stepping down from royal engagements in May 2017. The Royal Family join with people around the world in mourning his loss.

UK Prime Minister, Boris Johnson also addressed the nation following the death of Prince Philip.
