23rd February to be observed as “Pagdi Sambhal” Day: SKM

This day will be celebrated to assert the self-respect of farmers in memory of “Chacha Ajit Singh”, the uncle of Shaheed Bhagat Singh and founder of the “Pagdi Sambhal” movement.

Samyukta Kisan Morcha has appealed to everyone to celebrate “Pagdi Sambhal Day” on the upcoming 23 February. This day will be celebrated to assert the self-respect of farmers in memory of “Chacha Ajit Singh”, the uncle of Shaheed Bhagat Singh and founder of the “Pagdi Sambhal” movement. Farmers are agitating around Delhi against anti-farmer laws.

The song “Pagdi Sambhal”, written by Banke Dayal, editor of the weekly Zhang Sial, was a precursor to the peasant movement against agricultural laws by Colonial British Govt in 1906. The reflections of the movement that Chacha Ajit Singh had started at that time can be observed in this farmers’ movement as well. It is an appeal to all farmers to participate in this program by placing a poster-banner of Chacha Ajit Singh on tractors and other vehicles and by wearing green turban.

Remembering Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj on his birth anniversary

Samyukta Kisan Morcha salutes Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj on his birth anniversary. Shivaji Maharaj is known as a great warrior and skilled strategist, whose governance has always been in the public interest. Farmer leaders said that Shivaji Maharaj is a symbol of courage for us. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is our inspiration for this struggle in the critical time of exploitation.

Condolence to Unnao Victims

Samyukta Kisan Morcha expresses deep condolences to the victim’s family after the mysterious death of two of the three Dalit sisters in Unnao of UP. The governance and administration system of Uttar Pradesh is once again under suspicion where there is no safe space for women. We demand proper medical treatment of injured women, a high-level fair investigation into this incident and strict punishment to the culprits.

Samyukta Kisan Morcha strongly condemns the statements made by Madhya Pradesh Agriculture Minister Kamal Patel against the farmers. It is disgraceful to insult Annadata’s struggle.

Farmer leaders said that the participation of farmers from Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan continues. Apart from these states, preparations are going for joining Delhi dharnas. It has become clear from these developments that in the coming days, the movement will be getting stronger.
