Due to the continuous efforts of the Haryana government to harass and discredit the farmers, farmers had announced a social boycott of BJP and JJP leaders.

Despite the farmers’ ultimatum, BJP-JJP leaders are continuously trying to organize programs in Haryana with the sole purpose of inciting violence and weakening the movement.

Farmers have opposed every program of anti-farmer Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister of Haryana. The Chief Minister cancelled his program to Barauli. In Kaithal, lathicharge was done against the farmers who were opposing the Deputy Chief Minister.

SKM condemns the police action on farmers. The BJP-JJP government of Haryana may have survived the No-Confidence Motion in the Assembly but they have completely lost the confidence of public and ordinary citizens.

Farmers’ movement going strong despite some crop losses

The three Central Farm Laws were brought in by the Government of India during the Corona Lockdown period, because it was expected that farmers will not be able to oppose at that time. However, seeing this as a fight for their very existence, farmers decided to struggle even during that difficult time of the pandemic. The pandemic continues.

It is time for harvesting rabi crops and farmers have to sell the crops. Even in this busy time, they are protesting on the Delhi borders, with their season’s earnings put at stake. Because of high interdependency and good social bonds between farmers and labourers, the loss of crop is less even in cases where farmers are not able to personally attend to the harvesting; it is well worth emphasising that it is the government that is keeping the farmers away from the crop cultivated by them.

Photo of the tent that got burned today in the fire by unknown elements

Today, some anti-social elements set fire to some farmers’ tents on the Singhu border. Some essential belongings inside the tent and a car near the tent caught fire. No person was physically injured and the situation was brought under control within a short time. In this context, a complaint has been lodged with the Kundali Police Station.

SKM commented on the incident as attempts to create an atmosphere of fear, but farmers are not afraid of these antics.
