Covid-19 related mortality rate surpasses World War II death toll in the United States of America. As of February 21, 2021, more than 500,000 Americans had lost their lives due to Covid-19.

The number of Americans killed in World War II was four lakh fifty thousand. More than 58,000 people were killed in the Korean War and the Vietnam War. Covid mortality has surpassed this number.

Covid deaths in the United States currently exceed five million. President Joe Biden paid tribute to the dead at the White House and hoisted the American flag halfway down in honour of the dead.

It had earlier predicted that the death toll in the United States would reach five million by the end of February. The number of confirmed cases in the United States has risen to 28,206,650 so far.

Covid is also on the rise in India. India Today reported that Bombay Municipal Corporation Commissioner Iqbal Chahar had said that the next 12 days would be crucial in the city of Mumbai, where the Covid outbreak is intensifying.

“The next 12 days are crucial in the event of an exacerbation of Covid proliferation. Do not expect any favours. Restrictions will be tightened. Strict action will be taken against those who violate the restrictions on wedding celebrations, ” said Chahar.

Chahar said the presence of the genetically modified Covid virus could worsen the situation.
