BHU: Dalit Professor alleges Discrimination in Promotion to Head of Department

Prof.Shobhana Narlikar has alleged that despite working regularly it was shown that she was on leave without Pay (LWP)so as to affect her seniority.

Prof.Shobhana Narlikar from the Department of Journalism at Banaras Hindu University (BHU) has sat on Dharna in the BHU central Hall campus alleging the college administration of spoiling her chances of promotion.

Prof.Shobhana Narlikar has alleged that despite working regularly it was shown that she was on leave without Pay (LWP)so as to affect her seniority.

Shobhana Narlikar also alleged that other professors stop her from taking more classes.

Shobhana has alleged that she is being mentally harassed because she is a Dalit. Shobhana has alleged that since 2013 college administration and department lecturers are harassing her. She has complained about the matter to the university registrar and many lecturers, still, she has not being heard.

Prof. Narlikar had filed an FIR in the Lanka police station against Prof. Kumar Pankaj of Journalism Dept. three years ago on 8th July 2017 on charges of threat and SC-ST Act. At that time also Prof. Nirlikar had sat on dharna along with students at the BHU gate and demanded the arrest of Prof. Kumar Pankaj.

Since then all the teachers have mobilised against her. Not just that, 65 lecturers have written a letter to the vice-chancellor telling him that earlier also Prof. Shobhana Narlikar has concocted stories against other lecturers and officers. They also added that they will start protesting if no action is taken against her.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. G. C Tripathi has asked for an inquiry under the high Court judge Kalimullah about this matter.
